The Wanton Women of Literature
Alright, I admit that calling the following books literature might be a bit of a stretch, but as these volumes contain words with no pictures, binding and appear to have been authored by someone-or-other, I believe literature would be an appropriate technical term.
Of course I’d love to have a peek between the pages… Wouldn’t you?

The Beat crowd: Now this sounds right up my alley. I love how the girls are “willing” and the guys are “eager”. Despite the ridiculously overt sexual overtones and the fact this book is about a woman who wants a lot of sex, there is still a modicum of coyness as far as the female sexual drive is concerned. Interesting.

Is this about a brothel? A pimp? Or are we talking just a playboy who happens across a bunch of very lusty (and possibly a bit unhinged, judging by the use of the word “bedlam”) women harlots. I hate to think where that cigar might be going…

Author: Larry Hornes. That’s just brilliant. As is the simplicity of not only the cover design, but also the title, Sex Mad. Doesn’t leave a lot to the imagination, does it?

Ooh, we’re getting a bit clever now. I always love a shoddy play on words. Notice that this is the only title which features any kind of “adult” warning on the cover. Mind you, something tells me these books weren’t available in regular bookstores.
I have quite an enormous collection of these vintage book covers, so if you enjoyed this little spread (ahem), you may enjoy some of the saucily themed book posts I have in mind for the future. Stay tuned…

That cigar is freaking me out…..
I would love to read one of these books. I wonder if they are even available these days?
You know, at least a oouple of these books are available from a particular website which has loads and loads of these vintage erotic paperbacks. I was madly scrolling through bookmarks in various browsers last night trying to find the site they came from because I really wanted to link there. I think the books are around $20-$25 a piece, which is what you’d pay for a new book… I’m still going to hunt around for that site and I’ll include it on my next book cover post…
I am closing my legs together very tightly just at the mention of that cigar.. ;)
Strangely enough I came across a couple of similar bookcovers on a site this morning: http://www.beatmuseum.org/ Not for sale though and there are only a few. Still, it’s quite an interesting site.
Oh, what a cool site! I’ll be perusing that one in detail and no doubt getting a few ideas for future postings. Cheers, love!
Brilliant… I’ll have to post thost book covers, too.
You’re welcome! I thought of you as soon as I saw them. :-)
Wow I am getting turned on here. I see a lot of bisexuality in these covers. I also see I might be having a second O today lol
Brilliant idea for a blog theme. Crap culture is fascinating to me… the stuff in the gutters is just as interesting as the classics that are more commonly dubbed “literature” in its own twisted way.
I love the noir-ish pulp fiction motif and this erotica is right in that vein.
Stiletto - Hope you got that second O, darlin’ ;)
D - Ah, why thank you, sir. I adore these old “adult” book covers, and I suspect I’d love the contents just as much. Now, if only I could remember where to buy them…
